The Core Impact of Temperature on Battery Capacity

The standard capacity is based on 25℃; for every 1℃ drop in temperature, the battery capacity decreases by 1%.

Low temperatures directly impair the battery's energy storage capacity, and the lower the temperature, the more significant the capacity attenuation.

Charging and Discharging Performance in Low-Temperature Environments

  • Charging: When the temperature is below 5℃, the charging efficiency is only 70%, the actual charging capacity can only reach 60%-70%, and the charging time is relatively shortened.
  • Discharging: The discharge capacity is only 50%-60%. The resistance of chemical reactions increases, and the increased viscosity of the electrolyte hinders the release of electrical energy.
  • Driving Range: Calculated by multiplying 70% charging capacity by 60% discharge capacity, the driving range in winter is approximately 42% of that in summer, resulting in the issue of "inability to drive far".

3Recommendations for Battery Use in Winter

  • Charging Environment: Choose a location with a temperature above 0℃ for charging to avoid the impact of low-temperature charging on battery life and efficiency.
  • Charging Habit: Adopt the "charge as you ride" mode to reduce deep discharge of the battery and alleviate capacity attenuation.
